Gianfelice Rocca is President of the Techint Group, which includes Tenaris, Ternium, Tenova, Techint E&C, Tecpetrol and Humanitas and is recognized among the world leaders in the steel, energy and infrastructure sectors.
In the 1990s Gianfelice Rocca founded the Humanitas Clinical Institute, one of the most renowned polyclinic hospitals in Europe, an international research and teaching centre with management education ties to Harvard University.
Since November 2014 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Luigi Bocconi Commercial University and in July 2017 he was appointed member of the Board of Directors of the Leonardo Da Vinci National Science and Technology Museum Foundation. In June 2020 he was appointed Special Advisor Life Sciences Confindustria.
In Italy, he holds a seat on the Board of Brembo SpA and is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Polytechnic of Milan.
From June 2013 to June 2017 he was President of Assolombarda, the largest territorial association of entrepreneurs in Italy. For eight years, from May 2004 to May 2012, he was Vice President of Confindustria with responsibility for Education and from June 2012 to June 2016 he was a member of the Steering Committee of EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology).
At international level he is Vice President and member of the Executive Committee of the Aspen Institute, a member of the European Advisory Board of the Harvard Business School, and member of ERT (European Round Table of Industrialists).
Engaged in social and charitable activities, he presides over the Rocca Foundation and the Fratelli Agostino and Enrico Rocca Foundation. In April 2023 he was appointed Vice President of the Giorgio Cini Foundation.
In 2007 he was named Cavaliere del Lavoro and in 2009 he was awarded an honorary degree in Management Engineering by the Polytechnic of Milan.
In 2010 he received the 2009 Leonardo Award from the President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano for his contribution to strengthening Italy's international position in the steel, energy and infrastructure sectors.
In 2018 he was appointed Commander by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella for the commitment and contribution made to the country in the economic field. Gianfelice Rocca graduated cum laude in Physics from the University of Milan and obtained a PMD from the Harvard Business School in Boston.
He lives in Milan, is married and has 2 children.
